> Manama, Bahrain
We’re proud that Fuckup Nights has become such a hugely international movement, and it’s exciting to see each new city that joins up. But different parts of the world treat failure differently, and each area responds in its own way to Fuckup Nights.
We chatted with Basma Khalfan, from Fuckup Nights Manama, about organizing events in an Arabic nation.

On hosting the event:
“It was nice to host FUN in Bahrain, but as Bahrain is a Muslim country the name is quite difficult to spread to people, therefore we did not refer to it as Fuckup Nights in public, instead, it was referred to as FUN Manama, but we did explain in what FUN stood for through out briefs and the event.”

And as for finding people willing to talk about their failures?
“Finding speakers was quite easy, as many Bahraini Entrepreneurs and businessmen are keen on sharing their failures to the public, sponsors came from personal relations from our first event, the companies were happy to support the event and concept.”
And lastly, the key to a great event in Manama?
“The magic formula to make a successful chapter in Manama is to avoid the use of the F word much in comms or talks.”
